Artist Sigrid Calon (Tilburg) is known for her graphic handwriting in which she plays with abstract forms in various techniques, including risograph prints and textiles. She is known for her solo in De Pont museum and is included in the collection of Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk museum and Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, among others. Calon's signature is clearly reflected in the statement pieces she designed for our label by TextielMuseum.
Calon shows her fascination for weaving and knitting techniques in two product series. The tea towels are an ode to weaving, with a rich palette of bindings, textures and colours. The design of her plaids offers a microscopic insight into the technique of knitting, by showing a graphically enlarged structure of a knit.
