Yamuna Forzani is an artist, designer and LGBTQ+ activist. During her studies at the KABK in The Hague (2012-2016), she started developing colourful fabrics with provocative prints and graffiti-inspired tags in the TextielLab. The outfits that she creates with these fabrics serve as a form of self-expression and are inspired by the ballroom scene − the LGBTQ+ subculture where performance, music and fashion come together. It is a scene that Forzani herself is a part of. In her visual language, she plays with the body, sexuality and the psychedelic aesthetic of the 1960s, as well as today’s visual social media culture and kitsch.
